Show oo UNIONS URGE DRASTIC ACTION Quick Move to Avert Desperate Desper-ate Food Situation in England Eng-land Proposed by Unions. London. Jan. l 26 p m A committee com-mittee of the Federation of Trades unions. In a manifesto given out today to-day concerning the high prices of food, charges the government with failure to anticipate and organize against certain consequences of the war and urges quick and drastic remedial re-medial action to avert a situation which is "becoming desperate " The committee suggests a better distribution of Incoming ship- at port other than London and Liverpool. Continuing It says: "Now that troubles have developed, the government must not tentatively, as If the next centurj would do, but immediately. The procedure of prise courts must be expedited and call captured ships must be valued, manned man-ned and utilized by the state for the purpose of transporting of supplies purchased direetly from the producer, and such opportunities must be placed on market at prices to cover only the costs and distributive charges." |
