Horton. who lives in Penn Yan, N. Y. It is his wish that Roy be buried here." Heavily veiled to conceal her iden-tity iden-tity and apparently afraid" of the prying pry-ing eyes of the public, a young woman appeared at the S. M. Taylor & Co. undertayiug rooms late yesterday afternoon af-ternoon and in the foregoing words laid claim to the body of Roy J. Horton. Hor-ton. who was killed last Saturday night by Major II. P. Myton on West Second South street. Declines to Give Name. The young woman addressed herself her-self to the funeral director for the Taylor company. When asked her name she refused to divulge it, but told the director that she would return re-turn 'within a day or two to make arrangements for the funeral. According Ac-cording to the wishes of the dead man's father, conveyed by her, the funeral fu-neral will be held here. The report circulated yesterday that Major Myton was taken to the IDlks' club for breakfast and later allowed al-lowed to cast his vote in the city election, was denied at police head quarters Jast night. It appears that there were sovoral letters and telegrams tele-grams for Major Myton at the Elks' club and ho was allowed to go after them in company with a city detective. detec-tive. He was escorted to the club early yesterday morning and returned to his cell in the city jail at once. Throughout the day the major retained re-tained his attitude of composure and. saw a few friends. Autopsy la -Performed. The autopay over the body of Roy Horton, the slain man, was performed yesterday morning by Dr. Claude L. Shields, assistant county phyaloian, at the S. M. Taylor & Co. undertaking undertak-ing rooms. The autopsy was hold merely to show the nature of the wounds causing Horton's death. A report made later to Justice of the Peace Jj. R. Martineau showed, that the bullet which caused death, entered en-tered the body near the right shoulder, shoul-der, penetrating both lungs and the aorta. At a late hour last night 1L was considered certain that Major Myton would be kept in Jail without ball until un-til Justice L. R. Martineau can conduct con-duct a preliminary hearing at 10 o'clock Friday morning At that time It will be decided whether or not the charge against the major will be reduced re-duced and bail fixed. |
