Show SHERIFF'S REQUEST IS TO BE DENIED Salt Lake. Dec. 10. Taking the stand that the sheriff should be able to sui ilk-gal liquor traffic with out having to call for an additional appropriation, the county commissioners commission-ers informally have decided not to grant tho sheriff's latest request for an addition to his contingent fund The sheriff has explained to the i commissioners that the "bootleggers" in the county are familiar with his regular deputies and that he has found 4 Jj it necessary to engage special men to gather evidence, and this requires more money. Members of the commission point fo the fact, however, that the county attorney, with the aid of C. C. Cou!-son Cou!-son Smith, whom the sheriff discharged discharg-ed as a deputy sheriff, had succeeded in putting the Casa Contentia and the Wasatch Fish club out of business. They believe the sheriff can accom-I accom-I pi ish the same results without additional addi-tional funds. |
