Show DEMOCRATS CARRY COUNTY. Lon Nov. 17 The official returns of the election in Wayne county as canvassed by the board of county commissioners, show that Smoot carried car-ried the county by 41 votes. The Republican state and congressional candidates carried the county, but the Democrats elected nearly all of the county officers.
