Show SUCAR COMPANIES TO BE COMBINED 01 0ECE1ER 18 That the Amalgamated Sugar com-panj com-panj and the Lewlston Sugar company com-pany will be merged' into one i orpo ration next month is beyond question, ques-tion, as the interlocking Interests ami official organizations need not be operated op-erated separately according to the statement of President Joseph Scow-croft Scow-croft of the Ix-wiston companj today He states that the business of the two companies can be handled to ;id-antage ;id-antage by one directorate and one set nf officers and greatly lessen the expense. 'The merger will be simply a matter mat-ter of economy," said Mr. Scowcroft today, "and for some time past the question of merging the two concerns has been considered. We have nearly near-ly the same officers in each of the companies and the interests are 30 identical that it will be a saving of money to combine them." The capitalization of the Amalgamated Amalga-mated company is about $4,000,000, while that of the Lewiston company Is ,'110)11 $1,000,000, but the relative value of the stock of the two companies compa-nies can be readily determined it is expected that the merger will be agreed to l the stockholders of th" Amalgamated company at a special meeting to be held December 19.
