Show CHICAGO LOSES OPENING GAME Cincinnati, O., April 15. Chicago was defeated 10 to 1 yesterday in the opening game of the season after playing play-ing for two hours and eight minutes In a drizzling rain. The rain, which began shortly before the time for the starting of the game, not only kept down the attendance, but caused Cheney Che-ney to lose control of the ball. Ho allowed eight bases on balls, made four wild pitches and hit two men, besides be-sides having four hits registered off him. Benton appearod to like the wet going, and held the visitors to two hits. Governor Cox of Ohio, was the guest of honor at the game. Manager O'Day of the visitors, who was formerly for-merly leader of the Cincinnati team, was remembered by friends in the form of a huge floral offering. Chicago 'saved themselves from a shutout in the ninth Inning when Benton Ben-ton gave three bases on balls in succession, suc-cession, with only one out.
