Show BORAH NOT IN THE RACE. Caldwell, Idaho, April 15. A meeting meet-ing called by the Canyon county Republican Re-publican organization for the purpose oif formally starting the candidacy of Senator William E. Borah for the presidecy for the election of 1916 was held here this afternoon. The meeting was presided over by Senator Sena-tor II. C. Baldndge. A letter was read from Senator Borah in which he said that while he appreciated to the fullest the honor proposed to be conferred con-ferred upon him, he hoped that his friends in Canyon county would not go any further in the matter. The senior senator from Idaho stated in the communication that he was not a candidate for president and that he did not expect to become a candidate. Such an indorsement as was proposed would, he considered, greatly handicap him in the work he had planned for himself In the national congress, and he did not wish to be placed In the position of being a candidate for presidential pres-idential honors. John T. Haines, governor of Idaho, ex-Governor Gooding, Lieutenant Governor Gov-ernor Taylor, Commissioner Day and other state officials were present at the meeting, uhere speeches were made by prominent Republicans upon the vital issues of the day. |
