Show MILITIA THREATENS TO KILL HORSES Tulsa, Okla., April 16. Disregarding Disregard-ing a restraining order issued by Judge M. A. Breckenrldge of the superior su-perior court, state troops yesterday : took possession of tho Tulsa Fair j Grounds,- proclaimed under martial law by Governor Lee Cruce, and when an attempt was made to run the ra-, ccs, fired a volley over the heads of the jockoys. With tho declaration of Frank M. Canton, adjutant general, who was in command of the troops, that if another an-other raco wore started, the militiamen militia-men would fire to kill the horses, officials of-ficials of the Tulsa Jocked club ordered or-dered the meeting, which bogan Monday, Mon-day, abandoned, at least temporarily. Yesterday's action culminated "a contest ovor tho right of "bookmakers" "bookma-kers" to oporate at the track. |
