BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETS on account of two of the members ot tho board of education being unable to be present at the meeting belc last evening several important mat aers that were to have come up were allowed io go over until next week and only the routine business was transacted the finance committee reported havi ing received from the county treasur trea aur er on account of school tax for the year 1904 that warrants for the payment of the janitors salaries for the month of november had been drawn amounting to and that the treasurer reported cash on hand amounting to this la the first time during the present school year that the treasurer has been able to report a cash balance the sanitary committee reported that there were four cases of contagion in the city three of diphtheria and one of chicken pox alsa ethel harcombe who has been aa a teacher was appointed to a regular position superintendent allison reported that A M breele who has been engaged to fill the vacancy caused in the faculty of the high school through the departure of professor rutherford would arrive in tho city on monday and would at once tahe up the duties of his position mr steele la a graduate of the university of chicago and is an experienced man having taught in several high schools la the east bills amounting to vero reported allowed and warrants ordered drawn for their payment
