OCR Text	Show HOT CONTEST IN JERSEY CITY new york nov 7 A hot contest for the mayoralty of jersey city between mark fagan republican the present mayor and A M henry democrat was enlivened today by the taking of some ot his power from chief of police murphy the police commission ot which mayor fagan is a member adopted an order by which chief murphy was prevented for the day from suspending policemen on accusation ot misconduct at tho polls instead the commission assigned some member of the force to report any misconduct of the police it bad been reported that chief murphy was electioneering electioneer ing against mayor fagan who was opposed by some corporations po rations the democratic candidate can didato appealed to sheriff zeller who swore in deputies and sent them to watch the polls
