mcallaster McAll lster street the police bad surrounded the place andrews was hidden in a closet when a policeman by subterfuge entered the room that their hiding place was discovered the young woman persuaded the policemen to leave the room she locked the door and immediately afterward two shots were beara in the apartment the police broke in and the bodies of the fugitives with bullet holes in britain conn with the slaying of a woman at troy N Y and with the killing of bessie bouton at colorado springs he returned with eells to chis country last month having selected the horseman as another victim tor his remarkable record of crime A statement signed by andrews was subsequently found in the stocking of tha dead woman in which he says as follows the people of the united staica have all rest of the principal saloons and joints in syracuse to N Y and went to live in a house known as the globe I 1 met her there and we formed a liking for each other I 1 told her I 1 was a gambler and faiq wanted to travel with me and when eh promised to give up smoking cigarettes getting drunk and meeting men I 1 took on the road with me when we arrived at chicago I 1 bought her some diamonds from the bauman jewelry company she agreed that if ever she met men again or got drunk I 1 was to take them all back and we would separate we hired a room on cottage grove avenue opposite glebes saloon and I 1 gambled for a living and won in a few months in a big poker room I 1 caught her playing sneak on me and going to the Alfa ambra hotel district in which she became a well known character we split
