soft drinks at ogden prices weber club will give all a good time from mondays standard the excursion committee of the weber club met last evening in tho club parlors and approved the final arrangements of the subcommittees sub committees the most interesting feature approved was the greyhound chabe D A smyth has ten thoroughbred american greyhounds grey hounds on his ranch and he has agreed to run a match raca against coyotes and jack rabbits the first race will be that of six greyhounds grey hounds against six jack rabbits the record race w ill be tour grey hounds against two coyotes these will be the most exciting races ever wit in the state the wild animals will be turned loose on the sandy beach while the audience will stand on the high rock point of the promontory which consists of solid rock rising from 25 to 75 feet above the sandy beach and will accommodate people every one of whom will be able to see every jump ot the wild animals as well as of the greyhounds grey hounds A small comoto was offered yesterday for the race but the committee refused because they wanted a wolf or coyote that will be the equal of the grey hounds in a race tor life the coyote can outrun any ordinary american dog and whether the grey bound can catch him will have to be proven at promontory point monday september 4 D A smyth Is authorized to pay 5 each for full grown coyotes and 1 l each for rabbits the committee has engaged the southern pacific steam launch to take tho excursionists on a ride on the great Sali Lake so that the cutoff and trestlework can be seen from the water this will be a feature well worth seeing the steam boat will be in charge of captain fred M nyo on labor day thousands of people have asked for the chance to ride in this boat in the past and it was only after repeated efforts that the boat was secured it Is absolutely safe and is one of the very few boats built especially tor great salt lake the committee on tents and shade were authorized to have tents erected to accommodate all the it the day Is hot the people will find ample shade room in the tents with the sides up so that the breezes may pass under making a cool and refreshing place for those who want rest all this is free of charge the refreshment committee reported the closing of the contract with ken gedys restaurant for refreshments the charges to be no more than are charged in ogden city eatables can therefore be secured at very reasonable rates for everybody those who wish may take a lunch but the prices will permit all to buy on the grounds the committee on seats and tables reported that they have arranged lor that part of the program the report of he committee on toilet rooms was also approved the committee on summer drinks reported that they provide lemonade soda water ice cream and other soft drinks at ogden drug store prices the committee on bathing reported th atthe noble pier some five hundred feet long afforded ample opportunity tor bath houses for jsn and that tents would be put up on the shore close to the water to accommodate the women and children and that the depth of the water would vary from a few inches to five feet within feet of tho shore frank hart the manager of the hot springs will hadje charge of the bathing and will have 2000 bathing suits on hand for the occasion the amusement committee reported that they had under consideration and expected to perfect arrangements for a balloon ascension a game ot baseball in the shallow water east atthe bathing point between the salt lake commercial club and the weber club there will also be boat races a tub race log race and other water sports the committee asked for another week in which to perfect the program A controversy arose over which committee should have charge of the foot pier running out from promontory point the bathing committee won out with the understanding that one halt of the pier bo used for spectators and landing place for steamboat four special trains have been engaged the first will run out at 9 a m and will be followed by trains every two or three hours afterwards trains will stop at west weber to allow the country people a chance to get aboard the people can spend the whole day at the beach or can return on any of the trains and will not have to remain over two or three hours the final meeting of tha committee will bs
