| Show CELLAR OF BANK ADDITION big pall of hall Is feature of deluga that descended on city almost two feet of water in the cellar of the new addition to the utah national bank Aull ding is the result 0 the rainstorm yesterday afternoon basements of other stores along the east side 0 washington avenue received some of th water but in no instance was damage reported although bettering no pecuniary damage the western union telegraph company experienced considerable trouble with their lines because of their becoming so suddenly water soaked which offered additional resistance to the current As the amonn began to abate awen ty fourth street resembled a miniature cataract down which the water ws pouring in a great volume in the path of the miniature cataract waa the material to be used in the construction st of the new addition to tha utah national bank building to one side was the deep cellar of the addition As the water struck the building material it changed its course and poured into the new cellar in spite of the endeavors of the workmen to keep the water from flowing into tho cellar it continued to flow until a small dam had been erected of bags of sand and other available material which turned the water back into the street where it could flow to the sewer As the excavation for the cellar la above water level the water will drain off without the assistance si of pumps at the corner of twenty fourth street and washington avenue there was a email pond occupying nearly the entire space between the four comers and extending south along washington avenue for some distance in some sections the rain was accompanied compa nied by hall there being quits an amount of the white in eden and on the bench at one place alone on the bench it waa possible to pick up hand dull of hall the storm is reported to have been central over eden and that section received the most benefit from tho storm |
