Show m f GIRL TAKES STAND M I AGAINST BISHOP 9 I Tacomn, Sept 18 Marjorle Uel- aT man took tho witness stand yestor- dav in the suit of her mother, Mrs. Jjfzle Magnusson, against Bishop O'Den. tho visitation sisters and other offlcals of the Catholic church for $40,000 damages for alleged kidnaping. It Is charged by Mrs. Magnusso that tho girl was secreted in convents until un-til legal proceedings were Instituted to compel her rolease. Miss Reiman testified that Sister Alovslus of the visitation convent In Tac'oma had manifested affection for her in an Improper inauner She swore also that when she was sent to talk with Father Van Goetham, a priest, sho declared, he embraced her. At the time she was weeping over the separation from her mothor. The girl testified that she was taken to a convent in San Francisco by Father Van Goetham and kept there until her mother discovered her and instituted legal proceedings for her release. |
