Show STOPS BATTLE OF COOK IN RIGGING San Francisco. Sept. JS. Captain Peter Peterson of Ihe salmon bark Star of Chile, climbed 100 Teet into the rigging of his vessel as she came in through the hends today, and disarmed dis-armed two of his crew who had clambored aloft to slash at each other with a meat cleaver and a knife. The bark's cook, a negro, differed with his helper, a Filipino, and chased chas-ed him into tho rigging. The pair swung aloft, cutting at each other, the cook trying to chop tho Fillp'no's legs with his cleaver and at the same time keep out of tho seep of the helper's knife. , Captain Peterson, fearful of losing his cook, went up the shrouds with a Marlin spike, and drove the pair down. The ook descended as he went up. The Filipino, fearing treachery, treach-ery, wont overhand on a backstay to tho mainmast, and thence to the deck. When Peterson, panting, regained the planking he mado them shake hands. |
