Application for tho charter has boon made by a to-terlo to-terlo of men Including W. F. Adams and J. P. Gardner of Salt Lake, W. H. Eccles and James Plngrco of Ogden, E. P. Ellison of Layton. C. W. Berry-man Berry-man of Blnckfoot, Ida.; D. L. Evans of Malad, Ida., and J. William Knlghtof Provo. Rumorg of such a bank have beon rifo in local banking circles ever since tho merger of the Stato National Nation-al bank and tho Utah National bank early In tho jear, which Ifl said to have created a logltlniato opening. Capital for the proposed Institution has been subscribed for in full and its establishment Is said to be contingent only upon tho discretion of tho comptroller comp-troller at Washington. It Is understood under-stood that the comptroller is in communication com-munication with national banks now established here to obtain their views as to whether the field Is fully covered cov-ered or If, In their opinion, there Is room for another. The power to grant a charter rests entirely with the comptroller. Whether tho recent announcement of the prosoped establishment of a sheepmen's bank In Salt Lake will conflict with the plans of the now national bank Is not known, though It Is understood that the backers of tho latter were In tho field first nn |
