Show BASEBALL IN OGDEN. t The closing games of the Union League baseball season were pleasing to the Ogden fans, although the local team finished in fourth place. Early in the season Salt Lake's sport writers had a great laugh at the expense of Ogden. The wonders of the'" "Skyscrapers" "Sky-scrapers" were extolled in most extravagant language, while Ogden was referred to as a village that could not afford a team much better than the town. At the end of the season, Ogden took those sani'i "Skyscrapers" into camp and, by winning 13 out of 16 games, destroyed their chances for the pennant. That was poetic justice. As a matter of fact, the reorganized team the team as constituted consti-tuted in the last two months was the fastest aggregation of ball players in the leaglie. The boys defeated every team in the association associa-tion and won every service with the exception of the one played with Helena on the local grounds. Next year Ogden will start with the strongest team, resolved to win the pennant. The game is to be more thoroughly popularized by reducing the price of admission. That is an excellent move which must bring a-gratifying a-gratifying response. , |
