Show NEW METHODS 1 In experiments to show. how much fa6tor seeds of any kind; corn, potatoes, pota-toes, beans, could bo plantod wltli tho uso of modern Hoedors and planters, I than tho old way of planting by hand and covering with a hoo It has been demonstrated that two men and a team of horses, using machines, could do as much work as 20 men doing tho samo work by hand. That Is, ono man and his horso and a machlno did as much work, and did It better, than 10 men could do working along tho old-fashioned old-fashioned lines, to say nothing of tho cost of maintaining tho extra nino men. This ratio will apply to the uso of nearly every machine employed In farm work, and while the farmers having limited areas :nay not always find it to their advantage to use machines, ma-chines, still every farmer should make sure of that fact by experiment, and by consultation with the authorities of his experiment-station. Of course tho best way to find out such things Is to try thorn. Just borrow bor-row a machlno for a day, push It for all It Is worth Then i'o a similar amount of work by hand, and in this way you can quickly satisfy yoursolf whether the old-fashioned way or tho new Is better. |
