Show STEEL TRUST HAS BRIGHT OUTLOOK Now York, Sopt. 2C Judge Gary, chairman of tho United States Steel corporation, following a meeting ot the directors and finance committee of the corporation this afternoon, Issued Is-sued the following statement. "Existing conditions are affecting business to the extent that, Instead of contract bookings for forward delivery, de-livery, customers are buying only for Immediate ircnulrcments. Nevertheless, Neverthe-less, strange as It may seem, tho volume of prompt business Is larger than usual, specifications running upward up-ward of 30,000 tons per day "Of the 4.500.000 tons on the books, of which 920,000 tons Is lnter-com-pany business. It may bo said, from the standpoint of mill operations, It Is better than any old-time contract order book of double tonnage, Inasmuch Inas-much as It represents active business capable of specifications in sufficient volume as required to operate our mills on the present basis for some moths to come."
