Show RUNAWAY RESULTS IN DEATH OF LAD Coalville, July 21. Lloyd Ball, 12 vears old, son of Mr. and Mrs. J H. Ball of Goalvjlle, was thrown from a runaway at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning and Instantly killed. The boy, with a cousin, Earl Williams, Wil-liams, waa returning from his father's field on tho eastern outskirts of the cltv, where he had been raking hay. Lacking hold-back straps, tho harness allowed the hayrake to run up on the heels of the horse as the lad was driving over a ditch crossing the road. The horso became frightened and started to run. -Young Ball fought frantically for control of the horso, but was unable to slop him. Nearlng a point opposite the home of the boy, the rake was overturned by striking a rock. Both of .the boys wero thrown from' their s'eats. As the rake reverted back to an upright up-right position one of the wheels struck the boy's head, severing tho back part of the skull. Young Williams escaped without a scratch. Mrs. Bell heard the frightened cries of the two youngsters as the horse dashed down tho street Rushing to the door she was just in time to see tbo wheel strike her boy on tho head. |
