For three hours tho men struggled for supremacy, neither gaining or losing. Tho Greek tried every trlcK known in tho game, but Jack was Just as foxy and for a time kept the Greek and his bettors on pins and needles. Several times he nearly got the Athenian champion and but for the foul interference of the latter would have succeeded Harbortson's face and nose showed the marks of the rough tactics of his heavier opponent. Both men wcro iu pink condition, Dodge weighing 1fili 1-2 pounds and Harbertson 156. It is expected that a Veturp match will bo made boforc either of tho men can be considered a worthy match for Yokel, the welter-weight champion o'f the world. There were two preliminaries ol twenty -minutes each. The first wan between Artie Chester and H. Porry. Chester secured tho first fall in six minutes, but could not get a second within the specified time. In the second bout between Peyton and Pres-han, Pres-han, neither men scored a fall .but Peyton, on account of his aggresive-ness, aggresive-ness, was given the decision. nn |
