Show uo AMMAN Youngster Had Been Trained in Life Saving to Good Purpose Salem, Mass., Aug. 12. Mrs. Ernest Webb, of Danvers, owes her life today to-day io the effforts of ten-year-old Edwin Ed-win Cann, of St. Louis. Cann, who Is an expert swimmer, swam at top speed a quarter of a mile when Mrs. Webb was seized with cramps at the Juniper Cove bathing beach, late yesterday, yes-terday, and, despite the woman's unusual un-usual weight, brought her safely to shore. Cann had recently taken a course of volunteer life saving corps lessons in the best methods of rescuing drowning drown-ing persons. He was able to approach his task like a professional life guard. He supported Mrs. Webb by the shoulders and she floated on her back while he pushed her to shore. |
