Show l'K I" SKI) liV PRESIDENT CLEVELAND IS FOUND The pen which President Cleveland used to sign the hill which gave to the people of Utah the right to form a constitution is among the old relics which again have been brought to 'icht by officials of the Utah State society in their inspection at the 1 capitol. ' This pen is an ordinary steel pen to which a slit-1 plate has been affixed to each side, bearing the following inscriptions: "This pen and holder used at 10 p. m. before midnight of July 16, 1894, by President Cleveland to sign the bill to enable the people of Utah to form. a constitution and be admitted admit-ted into the Union on an equal footing foot-ing with the other states." "This pen and holder presented by Hon. Joseph L. Rawlins, January 6, 189 6, to- His Excellency, Governor Heber M. Wells, to remain among the archives of the State of Utah." |
