Show MINERSVILLE NOTES The Minersville basket ball team gained a decisive victory last Saturday Satur-day evening when they played the tea mfrom the sub-high school of Beaver. Graved Day was observed in town last Saturday, when a large number of teams were used in filling up muddy depressions in the Minersville Miners-ville streets. The dance celebrating this much needed improvement was held on Monday evening. The County Teachers' Institute held at Beaver last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday necessitated the closing clos-ing of the school this week, and the presence of the teachers in Beaver. There three of the local pedagogues, Miss Edith Axtens, Miss Ida Bracken Brack-en and I. D. Stewart, appeared on the program.' During institute the Misses Axtens, Bracken, Meldrum, Kling and Yeomans, Mr. Griffiths and Principal I. D. Stewart stayed in Beaver, while W. A. Joseph and E. N. Larsen went up each day in the former's car. I. D. Stewart and Bert Griffiths were hosts at a unique and hilarious faculty party last Friday evening. After a lively ride on a hay rack the guests were assembled around bonfires bon-fires by the river a mile or so above town. Here a lavish chicken supper was served, after which the crowd joined heartily in games, songs and "jokes. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. R. Williams, Mr. and Mrs: Griffiths, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Larsen and son Cyle, the Misses Edith Axtens, Ax-tens, Ida Bracken, Joyce Kling, Martha Mar-tha Meldrum and Frances, Yeomans, End Principal I. D. Stewart. |
