Show When the oil fields of Wyoming, California. and others among the new-producers new-producers are no more than history, the oil production from the sands of Utah will be scarcely more than in its infancy, is the opinion of Col. C.1 P. Tasker, who has spent the past six years in investigating the oil resources re-sources of the San Rafael desert in eastern Utah. It is well known by oil men. Col. Tasker points out, that upwards of 7 5 per cent of the oil tapped is lost in the sands, and he ventures the prediction that there will-come a day when oil will be mined the samb as coal and metals. In this connection, connec-tion, he asserts, Utah is many years ahead of other states, because the oil sands already are exposed and only await development. With reference to his investigations in the San Rafael Ra-fael country, Colonel Tasker says: "The. San Rafael oil field is situated situ-ated in Emery, Wayne and Garfield counties, south of the town of Green River, which is the nearest railroad point. This field must not be confused con-fused with the so-called Green River Riv-er oil field which lies many miles east of the San Rafael oil field and ,to the east of Green River. The San Rafael field is bounded by the Green river on the east, the San Rafael swell on the west, north by the San Rafael river and south by the Dirty Devil river, a length of about forty miles and width of some thirty miles at the broadest part, tapering to a width of six or eight miles at the south end of the field.
