Show DEMOCRATIC GATHERING Scheduled Speakers Unable To Be Present. Judge Joshua Greenwood of Nephi, Acceptably Acts as Substitute. The Utah Theater was well filled Monday evening to hear addresses by Hon. W. II. King. Democratic candidate for the United States Senate and Hon. Milton H. Welling, candidate for Congress, but, unfortunately, unfor-tunately, fate intervened and prevented pre-vented the presence of either of the guests of honor. The death of one of Mr. King's relatives made it impossible for the former gentleman to be present, while in the case of Mr. Welling, an auto accident "hung him up" between Minersville and Milford, so that he arrived too late for the meeting. Judge Joshua Greenwood, who was recently nominated by the Democrats Dem-ocrats for the District Judgeship, was present and on solicitation, addressed ad-dressed the large crowd present, making a splendid presentation of the Democratic side of the great national political controversy now raging. The Judge is an able speaker and while on the "other side of the fence," politically, from the News, handled the various issues of tho day in a manner which thoroughly nleased his Democratic hearers. Although Al-though himself a candidate for a judicial office, Judge Greenwood confined his remarks strictly to the issues of his party as a whole, and made it plain that his local appearance appear-ance was not premeditated nor in the nature of a personal "boom. ' Preceding the address, the regular evening "movie" program was carried car-ried out, admission being free. |
