Show Frisco Fatality Well Known Miner Killed. Found Dead by Steep Path. Evidently Killed by Fall Eastern Relatives Are Notified. Word as received from Frisco yesterday, of the sudden and tragic death of Andrew Johnson, aged about G4 years, a well-known and popular miner at the Horn Silver mine, who was found dead Thursday morning, by the side of a steep path, down which he had evidently fallen. , About eight o'clock Wednesday evening, Mr. Johnson was seen to start toward his dwelling, having to descend a rather steep and rough pathway in order to reach his home. Nothing more was seen of him until yesterday morning, when his dead body was discovered beside the path. The dead man's chin and jaw had been broken by the fall, and he had received a terrible gash in the head, over the eye. The local Justice of the Peace conducted an investigation and decided an inquest unnecessary, as death was evidently due to accident. acci-dent. Undertaker Jorgenson attended attend-ed to the preparation of the body for burial. The deceased has a brother broth-er and son in Erie, Pa., who were notified by wire of the death of their relative, but no word has been received re-ceived as yet from them, up to time of going to press. Mr. Johnson had been operating a lease near the Horn Silver mine and had already shipped a car of ore. Arrangements for the funeral have been deferred pending word from the Eastern relatives. ''- |
