Show THE CELEBRATION In a Fourth of July celebration of the magnitude of that being sponsored at Minersville and Milford this year by members of the Milford American Legion, there is bound to be either a deficit in finances or else a profit from it all. Members of the local Legion post have expressed themselves to the editor that the Fourth of July celebration celebra-tion is not being held as a money-making event in itself, strictly speaking. But they wish it known that, from time to time, they are putting on affairs involving money, and that the idea of them all is, in reality, to build up a fund, admittedly. But such money as they can get in their treas- 1 ury is to be used, when the time comes, for the beautifica-tion beautifica-tion and betterment of Milford. The goal at present, is to construct a nice park for this city, which endeavor is truly a laudable one. The Legion is a civic organization, as well as a social one. Young men who constitute its membership are seldom unduly supplied with money, so in order to carry forward a civic project, preparatory affairs are held to aid in financing financ-ing the better and bigger projects. Which all is a roundabout way of saying that money spent with the Legion, at affairs where value received iii fun is given, will all return to the town in civic improvements. improve-ments. One of the biggest affairs that this infant, (in Milford) Mil-ford) organization is sponsoring, is the Fourth of July celebration, and it should be given hearty support. |
