Show COUNTY SCHOOLS TO ! GET THREE MONTHS OF NURSE'S TIME BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROPRIATES FUNDS REVIVE RED CROSS Milford public schools will have the services of a Red Cross nurse in the coming school year. This was decided by the County Board of Education at a Monday meeting of the board, at whichc it was deemed advisable to appropriate funds for the. purpose. The nurse will serve both the Milford and Beaver schools, for three months, the time to be spent with each school to be determined by the school census cen-sus figures. Red Cross Worker Here Miss Margaret Bullen, Field Representative Rep-resentative for Utah, of the Pacific Coast division of the Americajn Red Cross, was here last Friday for the purpose of stimulating interest in the Milford chapter. Lions Club Endorses After conferring with those few members who have kept up their interest in-terest in the Red Crossj she met with about a dozen members of the Lions Club. These men promised her that the club would be found to be back of any Red Cross activity decided upon, but in an unofficial way. The members individually decided to give Red Cross work here their hearty support. ri.ntar Afepfine" Members of the chapter then held a meeting Friday night ,at the Atkin Hotel. Members present-were Dr. H. C Hunter, Mrs. A. J. Atkin, Mrs. James Glenn, Mrs. W. C. Cates, Mrs. Addison Bybee, Miss Kendall Franke, Mrs Walter Weber, and Mass Bullen. The Lions club sent a committee composed com-posed of Dr. C. E. Parrish, S. C, Ruschmeier and Lee C. Brown. Decide for School Nurse Several projects having been mentioned men-tioned by Miss Bullen as being pn- marily functions of the Red Cross, the chapter went on record in favor of having the school nurse A committee com-mittee was named to see if the Beav ,,or were favorable to the idea, and wou!d share he expense with Milford. If Beaver did not favor the idea,. the Milford chapter decided to undertake it itself. Her Duties The school nurse's duties will be regular examinations of students with recommendations for their general health; courses in home hygiene and sanitation; and classes in the treat, ment of sickness at home. Much of Ms work will be given for the bene-fit bene-fit of adults. Red Cross Officers The Milford chapter elected the i lie iyah vw- . i following as officers r the fiscal year: Chairman, Dr. H. C. Hunter, Vice-Chairman, Mrs. A. J. Atkin j Secretary, Mrs. Addison Bybee; and v Treasurer, Mrs. James Glenn. With V the exception of Mrs. Bybee, a 1 of these officers held the same positions previously. Lee C. Brown was named as roll-call chairman, and will be charged with the responsibility of conducting the annual roll-call between be-tween Armistice Day and Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing of this year. Board Gives Sanction When the Board of Education was ,ppraised of the wish for a Red Cross nurse, it lost no time in settling the matter. Complete appropriations made which will insure three months of this work in the county. |
