Show The Bike the Banker Bought This is the breyele bright and gay The banker rode for many a j day; He rode with skill and he rode with grace, And a pleasant smile on his smooth young face. This is the flying Merkle machine On which the banker next was seen. At first it gave him many a spill, But soon he learned to ride with skill, And he sailed the country all around, And many a good square meal he found; What wonder, then, that his face now wore A broader smile than it did before. be-fore. This is the four-lunged runabout In which the banker next rode out; 'Twas big enough for his kids and wife, And the banker had the time of his life, Speeding along mile after mile, While his face was wreathed with that happy smile. But once with the auto microbe bit The willing victim will not quit. And soon the banker went so far As to get a seven-passanger car, The finest thing to be found on wheels, And the banker now enjoyment enjoy-ment feels As he takes his friends for a long swift ride With a smooth-faced smile that is very wide. What is the end? I think 'tis plain, The banker his hopes will surely gain Of a private car on a railroad train. Oh! had I the banker's wad and luck, I would trade my plugs for a two-ton truck, And the smile that would spread my wrinkled face Would surely then my ears displace. dis-place. N. B. Dresser. |
