Show Oldest Hinckley Resident Celebrates Birthday Miss Anna Wright, the oldest living liv-ing resident of Hinckley, will observe ob-serve her 82nd birthday Thurdsay March 8. Open house will be held in the afternoon for relatives and friends. A large birthday cake will be made for her topped with the letters "82." One of her gifts will be a subscription to the Chronicle and her name will go down as a "new" subscriber. Miss Wright was bom March 8, 1863 at Duncan's Retreat, Washington Washing-ton County. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann Fryer Wright. Her parents were called by President Brigham Young to go to Dixie to help in settling that part of the country. They were living in Salt Lake City at that time. She was ten years old when her father died leaving her mother with six children to support, four boys and two girls. Their home was washed away by the floods so her mother brought the family to Hinckley to live about 1887. Anna lived with her mother until un-til her death at the ripe old age of 94 (that was in 1931) since then she has lived alone in her humble little house across from the church. She has always been a good church worker and a true friend and neighbor. neigh-bor. With the exception of her nephews neph-ews and nieces she has on ly one close relative living, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Wright. At 82 she is still spry and walks to the store to do her shopping. |
