Show New Street Lights Blaze for First Time Tuesday Eleven of the new street lights for Delta were turned on Tuesday night for the first time. The lights in place were on the main busin- ess block, two each on the block east, two on the block west, and the one in front of the Chronicle. The plan calls for 21 lights and the other 10 will be installed as soon as the brackets arrive. They are expected during the middle of the month. It is hoped that the ! complete system will be in operation opera-tion about the middle of April. The complete installation was paid for by the Telluride Power company, and they will maintain it. The light bill each month will be paid two-thirds by the property owners and one-third by the city. It will amount to about 2c a front foot for each property owner. Each light has a rating of 800 watts and is of the latest design approved by General Electric and Westinghouse lighting engineers. They will be turned on from dusk to dawn of each night. The new lights are a big improvement improve-ment to the town and light it up in an excellent manner. We congratulate con-gratulate the City Council, the Telluride Tell-uride Power company and the property pro-perty owners for their cooperation in bringing about this new system. |
