Show Delta Basketeers Win Fillmore Round Robin T"J?SB! Will Enter State Tourney-Next Tourney-Next Week in Salt Lake Fillmore was the perfect host to the teams competing in the round robin there this past Friday and Saturday by letting the visiting teams have their own way and win all the games. The teams playing play-ing were Kanab, Delta, Cedar City and Fillmore, to see who went direct di-rect to the state tournament, and to determine the team that played with the Sevier second place winner win-ner for a berth in the tourney. Delta Del-ta won the first place spot and will go direct to the finals in Salt Lake City for the playoff, and Cedar will play a Sevier team to go as the second team from this district. Delta's first game was played Friday night with Kanab and after losing four players by fouls, Fullmer, Full-mer, Theobald, Moody and Anderson, Ander-son, the Delta fans gave up. But they failed to give the second group of players credit for their ability to play as they went in and fought hard to win the game for Delta. Glen Fullmer who ent in in the third quarter ended up high point man. The score was 42-39. The league ended with Delta win-Cedar win-Cedar City and won also from that team 30 to 25. The boys played heads-up ball in this game to win without question. Theleague ended with Delta winning win-ning first place, Cedar, second; Kanab, third, and Fillmore, fourth. To help finance the trip of the team to Salt Lake City, two basketball bask-etball games will be played Friday night at the gym. The main game will be at 8:30 with Lincoln high, a team from a large school will be the visiting team. Another at 7:30 between Hinckley high team and a team picked prom Delta. Both games promise to be interesting. inter-esting. There is a dance sceduled to follow the games. Everyone is invited to support the team. |
