Show Hinckley... Mrs. Harriet Spendlove Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Bishop are the parents of a baby boy born May 22 at Cedar City, Utah. Mrs. Grant 'iheobald underwent an appendectomy at the Payson Hospital last Saturday. Mrs. Lydia Theobald is at the home of Grant Theobald visiting and caring for the family and small infant son of the Theobalds. Richard Shurtliff is spending this week in Idaho on business. Visitors were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Palmer last week. They were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Millerbery and three children chil-dren from Midvale. The Hinckley Singing Mothers furnished the music at Delta for the Visiting Teachers Convention of the Relief Society. The Garden Club will meet on Thursday night, May 30, at 8:00 p. m. in the Hinckley Seminary. Everyone Ever-yone is urged to attend. Assistant County Agent Rickenbracker and the county 4-H demonstrator will be present. It is with the thought that 4-H Garden Clubs can be associated as-sociated with the club that these men will be here. The officers of the club would like to adopt the slogan "Every family a member: every home a flower garden". Mrs. Helen Shurtliff is visited this week by her sister and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bradshaw of St. George. Mr. George Baxter is visiting with his daughter, Esther Petersen, coming here to attend the funeral last week of Patton Petersen and is remaining for a short visit here. Mrs. Sadie Langston is seriously ill, suffering from heart ailments. Last Sunday night the Sunday Evening Service was given by the Aaronic Priesthood group. Graduation Gradua-tion exercises for those finishing their primary work were conducted at the fore part of the meeting. Those who participated here were: Immogene Tullis, Jileen Carter, Mae Jean Petersen, Geraldine Black, lone Theobald, Naomi Terry, Robert Wright, Harold Hepworth, Jay McDonald, Lee Swanger and Lowry Bishop. Following the graduation exercises exer-cises this group was welcomed to the active work in the L. D. S. group by Bishop Verdell Bishop and Fannie Lee Hilton. The remainder of the program consisted of talks by members of the different divisions of the Aaronic Aar-onic Priesthood, including, Don Morris, Buron Robinson, Fernard Blake and Robert Faris. Musical numbers were furnished by Wil-mer Wil-mer Woodbury and June Hepworth. This week "Three Musketeers" in search of adventure came by boat from the U. B. (sp?) Dam to the Reservoir. These adventurous souls are: Wendell Shurtliff, Mel-vin Mel-vin Hepworth and Lars Bishop. They were driven to the Dam and left to find their way home by way of the river. At tne time of this writing they had not yet returned, but planned to reach the reservoir on Wednesday afternoon. They naturally chose a time when they knew there would be plenty of water and plenty above them as well as below so none would be the wiser if they took a dunking or two as they battled the rapids. The Literary Club was entertained entertain-ed by Beulah Black Monday, with LaVell Johnson reviewing the book "My Chinese Wife", giving an excellent ex-cellent interpretation to the story. Others present were: Mrs. Ferron Bliss, Mrs. Raymond Finlinson, Mrs. Dana Pratt, Mrs. Dean Black, Mrs. Ben Robison, Mrs. Blaine Spend-love, Spend-love, Mrs. Leonard Palmer, Mrs. Grant Robinson, Mrs. Ladd Cropper, Crop-per, Mrs. LeRay Pratt, Mrs. Richard Rich-ard Shurtliff, Mrs. Walter Ekins, Mrs. Harold Morris, Mrs. M. H. Cropper, Mrs. Marion Pratt, Mrs. Vernon Love and Mrs. Cluff Talbot. Tal-bot. Mr. and Mrs. John Barton have moved from Hinckley to reside in Price, where Mr. Barton is entering business, purchasing a Texico Service Ser-vice Station. Mr. and Mrs. Venor Moody are now living in the home of their grandfather, Mr. Juel Moody. On Friday, May 31, Hinckley will sponsor their third entertainment entertain-ment in honor of the servicemen from here. This time it is to be in the form of a banquet and dance. At 7-30 at the Lunch Room of the high school a banquet will be served ser-ved to all service men and their partners. Anyone from Hinckley who has been in the service, or anyone who enlisted from Hinckley Hinck-ley is invited to attend. Following the banquet these people will be guests at the opening dance on the Hinckley Open Air Hall. In i case the weather does not permit open-air dancing, the high school gymnasium "will be used. Music will be furnished by DeVon Anderson's Ander-son's Manti orchestra. ! The committee-members who are responsible for the planning of this affair are: Wayne Petersen, Randle Swensen, Blaine Spendlove, Bertha Love, Elaine Dekker, Margaret Mar-garet Jensen, Gladys Carter and Roy P. Hilton. Margaret Jensen is chairman of the lunch and Gladys Carter of the finance. On Friday afternoon if the weather wea-ther permits a childrens free dance will be given on the open air hall. Word has been received in Hinckley of the death of the six year old grandson of Mrs. Josephine Joseph-ine Christensen, formerly of Hinckley. Hinck-ley. The death of Paul C. Ashby of Bellflower, California, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ashby, was caused by a sudden illness due to diphtheria diph-theria on May 20. The youngster had attended school that day and was in apparent good health and his mother noticed no signs of illness ill-ness as the boy retired. Shortly before midnight he complained of breathing difficulty and a county fire department inhaler was called. Bessie Ashby, age 3, sister of Paul is suffering from the same disease and is in the Los Angeles General Hospital. The four other children of the Ashby family are quarantined at the family residence. resi-dence. Mrs. Josephine Christensen flew from Salt Lake City to Bellflower to attend the funeral services.
