The Bait Station will be" open at Delta on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28, and May 29. The station at Fillmore will be open on Friday and Saturday, May 31, and June 1. Farmers should immediately im-mediately check the grasshoppers and begin to bait. You will find the grasshoppers on the fence lines, along on the bar pits and on the high ground. They are now about a quarter of an inch long and will take bait at this time of the year better than later. Don't worry If you don't see dead grasshoppers. The tiny hoppers hop-pers will crawl in the cracks to die. The important thing is to start baiting. To bait at this time of year will save hours of time, .considerable .con-siderable bait and do a better job. If any group wants the bait stations sta-tions to open earlier, they will be opened. Let your wants be known. Farmers are urged to bait again immediately after the first crop hay is up. Bait the fence lines and ditch banks. It won't hurt to leave the last swath in the field. Let the grasshoppers congregate and then bait. We are bound to have a tremendous amount of grasshoppers grasshop-pers this year. The egg survey made already this spring indicates we will have the most grasshoppers grasshop-pers this year than any year in the past. It is estimated that it will take 200 tons of dry bait to do the job this year. If you will follow instructions instruc-tions in mixing the bait, the time of day you put it out and do it early enough in the year, we feel quite sure you can get good results. re-sults. Certainly, poison bait will not kill the grasshoppers if left in the warehouse or stored in your own grainary. Keep the above date in mind. Now is the time to bait. |
