Show HOME ON SHORT LEAVE Ozwald Johnson MoMM 1c came home this week on a short leave from duty on shipboard. At Leyte Oz got an infection in his leg and while in the hospital he was given treatment for his former ! wound in the back, and now feels ;fine, having gained 12 pounds in weight. Besides action in Leyte his 'ship was in the Okinawa invasion, running from a half a mile to a-i a-i bout a mile from shore. Oz said jthey expected many more casualties casual-ties than they got. He said the Japs had wantonly demolished Manila, leaving it a 'mass of ruins. He broght us as souvenirs three Linotype mats from the wreckage of a printing plant. He expects his ship will be in on the invasion of Tokyo, and he withes to be "among those present." pres-ent." Lt. Dean Allred wrote his mother, Mrs. Lulu Allred. recently that a large group of Utah boys had got together in the west Pacific and celebrated July 24. A highlight of the party was that they had real ice cream and real fruit. I Members of the Church family ! met at a chicken dinner at the home of M-S Church on Monday j night, given for Melvin Church S 1c, who is returning to California after a leave here. Fay Overson returned to dutv after af-ter spending a 30-day furlough in Leamington with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Overson. He went to Welmington.
