Gardner Funeral services were held in Delta Friday at 6 p. m., in the L. D. S. First Ward Chapel, fcr It. David G. Gardner, the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Eugene Gardner, of Delta. Lt. Gardner was killed July 26, near Luke Field, Arizona, when the plane crashed while on a routine rout-ine flight from the field, killing Lt. Gardner and his companion, Lt. Oliver Fry of Boise, Idaho. The body was shipped to Delta for burial, bur-ial, with military escort, Lt. Grant W. Madsen. Madsen; duet, Shirley and Gene Harris, "I Have Read of a Beautiful Beauti-ful City"; tribute from the Delta high school and Seminary, Ward Moody; military life, Stella Ashby; song, Ora Gardner, "My Faith in Thee"; closing remarks, Bishop A. O. Gardner, men's quartet, "Jesus, Lover of my Soul"; Closing prayer, Glen W. Seegmiller; Retiring of Colors. ' Presentation of flag at the grave. Dedication of the grave by Bishop E. W. Jeffery, followed by Taps, by the American Legion. Many friends and members of the family were at the services to pay their respects to Lt. Gardner. He was the sixteenth student of the Delta high school who lost his life in the service. The school presented Mr. and Mrs. Gardner with a landscape land-scape in water color, inscribed in memory of David Gardner. Members of the family from out of town who attended the services were: Willia N. Mrs. Iris Barrett, Salina; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gardner, of Spanish Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gardner, American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Barlow and Mrs. Kimber, Brigham City; Mr. and Mrs.'Malen Mecham and children, chil-dren, Tropic, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Rolls, and Mrs. Edith Bills of Salt Lake City, and Miss Virginia Lee, a friend of Lt. Gardner's, from Hyde Park. |
