Show Melvin A. Lyman Training as Bomber Pilot Aviation Cadet Melvin A. Lyman son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Lyman, Ly-man, Jr., of Delta has arrived at Frederick Army Air Field, Okla., where he will receive his final phase of training as a bomber pilot. pil-ot. Upon successful completion of the nine-week course at this newest new-est advanced school of the Central Flying Training Command, Cadet Lyman will be awarded his Silver wings and commission as second lieutenant or flight officer. He will then be ready to take transition into actual bombers and tactical training in preparation to joining the victory parade of U.S. aircraft over Axis lands. AS James V. Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Kelly has been transferred from Shipyard Field, Texas, to Wayne, Nebraska, where he is going to pre-flight school. Keith Dalton USN, spent two days here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dalton. He went to San Francisco where he will be assigned assign-ed to sea duty. Lieut. Cmdr. Hobert E. Wakefield of Hawaii visited in Delta last week end being the guest of Dr. and Mrs. M. E. Bird. Delbert Bradfield. son of Mr. and Mrs. Delle Bradfield, phoned from Mississippi saying he had been sent there from Texas. He is well. His wife and two children are liv-... liv-... ing at the home of his parents. George R. Jensen has been promoted pro-moted to sergeant. He is in the European war area. Frank Bishop. USN, fiJm Farra- gut, Idaho, spent a short furlough with his wife and family in Las Vegas this past week. On his return re-turn to Idaho, he spent a day in Delta visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bishop. Stanley Clark sent his mother some snapshots of natives on the island he is on in the SW Pacific winsome lassies, with "coives" but no duds; 'n Stan wants a -redar "hope chest" sent him. Looks like that Gal is Yuwtah is well, she'd better look out. Censor, censor, cen-sor, censor! Pfc. and Mrs. John Phillips of Ogden spent the week end vistiing with Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Peterson Peter-son of Oasis. Pvt. Bee Welch spent a 7-day furlough here with his wife. He has been stationed at Camp Roberts, California, for the past 18 weeks. Ens. W. R. Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Walker, has been sent to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for torpedo bomber training. This is about forty miles north of Miami. Mia-mi. Pfc. Neil S. Bishop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Bishop of Delta, writes home that he is feeling fine and enjoying his training. Neil is in 2nd Field Artillery and is sta-j0 sta-j0 tioned at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Phil Eliason, who is in the U. S. Army and stationed at California. N is spending his furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eliason. Elia-son. Merlin Sampson of the U. S. merchant marines is home on furlough. fur-lough. He will be here until the middle of April. Major Charles Sampson of San Bernardino is expected to fly to Delta this week end to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson. |
