Show Flag Day Will be Observed in Utah Governor John C. Cutler has Issued the following proclamation designating designat-ing Juno 15 as Flag day: Whereas, on June 14, 1777, our glorious glor-ious Hag was otllclally given to the nation na-tion as an emblem of Jlberty and unity; and Whereas, the Hag Is dear to all American cltUens, many of whom havo poured out their blood for the safety of the nation it represents; and Whereas, the adoption of this emblem em-blem was an Important event to be counted among the epoch-making acts of our national congress; Now, therefore, 1, John 0. Cutler, governor of the state of Utah.do herq-by herq-by designate Monday, June 15, ll'OS, as Flag day, to be observed In commemoration commemo-ration of the auspicious event. I recommend that on that day the national colors be displayed on all public and private buildings; and that, so far as practicable, business be suspended sus-pended and exercises appropriate to the occasion be conducted by various organizations. Especially is it desirable desira-ble that tho children throughout the state be Impressed with the meaning of the day, and taught the lesson of loyalty and patriotism and the beauty of the Hags symbolism, by the holding of exercises under the auspices of the public schools. |
