Show Mention Affairs i MENDON, -June 1 A nicer time has never been held In Mendon on Decoration Day than was held last Siturday. All the week men and children chil-dren had been preparing the graves of thelrdeparted relatives for decorating. Saturday forenoon largo numbers were decorating the graves of their loved ones. Tho cemetery never look, ed more beatillru1. At Up. m. there was a mutch game of bnseba.l between be-tween the school team of Wellsvilio and Mendon. The score ended " to 15 in favor of the visiting team. At :i p. m. the Mendon and Holbrook team oroised bats. The game ended 4 to 13 in favor of Mendon. At 4:30 p. in., a picked team fioin the town and the Social club played u game of basket ball. Score 4 to 14 In favor of the club. The Social club made u striking appearance ap-pearance on Decoration Day In their new suits of navy blue and white. Jos. Hancock and wife of CtTntervllle spent Decot atlun day with Mrs. Han cock's parents, Mr. and Mrs. II. T. Richards. Mrs. David liuisi and children of Preston have returned home after spending a couple of dajs In town. Measles have brpken out again In three families Thirteen Japs are at woik thinning beets in this vicinity. The late rains have made the beets look tine. Sedreth, the two-year-old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Bassett, died very suddently Wednesday night of pneumonia. Funeral services were held in the meeting house Friday at two o'clock. Henry Buist and wife of Preston arc spending a few days in town visiting with relatlvesand friends. Mrs. Frank Harris of Logan is a guest of her mother, Mrs. Rebecca Hughes. Mrs. George Baker Is slowly improving im-proving after a severe attack of appendicitis. |
