Show Jackpot Barrel races starts in St. George section A jackpot held on Feb. 3 Began the 1973 season of W. C. B. R. A. competition. The large number of participants marked a promising year for barrel racing. A slight margin of 14100 of a second separated the first and fourth place winner of the Open Class: Wanda Anderson, Brenda McAllister, JoAnn Hoyt and Gai Bowler, who were winners in that order. The Novice No-vice Class was won by Sher-rie Sher-rie Larson, Julie Snow, Shirley Shir-ley Backen and Julie Herman. Her-man. Cindy Welch won the 14 and under competition, with Tammy Minniear, Carrie Ho-lyoak Ho-lyoak and Barbie Minniear placing second, third and fourth. VV.C.B.R.A. has been commissioned com-missioned to compose and edit the Dixie Downs Race programs. This is a beautiful booklet which may be kept as a souvenir of the Dixie Downs annual race meet. To date the results have been most gratifying. The merchants merch-ants of St. George, Hurricane, Cedar City and Parowan have been most generous in their purchase of advertsing. The public is inVited to attend, at-tend, admission free, future Jackpots to be held at the Washington arena, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p, m. and at the St. George Posse, March 3 at 2 P rn.
