Show Garth Jones sponsor bill to promote tourism in So. Utah Representative S. Garth Jones, 74th District, sponsored a Joint Resolution this week promoting tourism In Southern South-ern Utah. The resolution calls on the President of the United States, the Congress, and agencies of the government to furtlher protect and promote proper tourism and preservation preserva-tion cf the natural wonders of .our waterways and national parks. The resolution is particularly par-ticularly concerned with protecting pro-tecting the river-running industries in-dustries of Southern Utah which are a decided asset to the economy and environment of our area. Mr. Jones' resolution concerning con-cerning the development of tihe Kaiparowits Area is now being discussed by the Industrial In-dustrial Development Committee Com-mittee of the House. Mr. Jones is optimistic that the legislation legisla-tion will he handed out favorably. The Natural Resources Committee, Com-mittee, of which Mr. Jones is a member, is now working on two pieces of legislation which Dhe representative feels will promote some interest in the Southern Utah sportsman. One of the bills deal with the problem pro-blem of spotlight hunting and the other with amendments to the Code of Wildlife Resources. Resourc-es. Mr. Jones explained that the House had the choice of passing pass-ing the bill and thus enabling the State of Utah to Administer Adminis-ter the provisions of the biH or not pass it and have federal feder-al government administration. They chose to pass it even though there were many controversial con-troversial Issues Involved. |
