Show Delta tharts Cedar Redmen grapplers Cedar High School Redmen wrestling team lost their first dual match of the season Thursday evening when the Delta Rabbits invaded the Redman wigwam and stole off with a 45-9 victory. Only two of the Redmen picked up victorys in the battle against the Region Eight and defending State champions of Delta. Kary Laird won a victory with a pin in the 126 pound class while Alan Moss won a decision, 10-4 at 155. Both grapplers are sophomores. Saturday the Redmen got back on the winning end as they captured first place honors in a tournament hosted by the Hurricane Tigers. Six of the Redmen team members won their individual weights in the tournament, according to Coach Jack Bishop. Winners included: Kim Christensen, 98: : Ken Moss, 119; Kary Laird, 126; Evan Matheson, 132; Scott Slack, 145 and Mark Leavitt, 185. This week the Redmen will travel to Fillmore to take on the Millard Eagles. The match will be held this evening, Thursday. Friday the Redmen will be back in Cedar City for an afternoon match against Juab. Match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. Named as the wrestler of the week was Alan Moss at 126. Moss, a sophomore won his match against the Delta Rabbits and finished second in the Hurricane Tournament. At Hurricane he grappled against the Nevada State Champion of last year, according to Coach Bishop. |
