Show Red Cliff Repertory theatre plan apprenticeship program theatre company. Among the productions being considered for this year's RCRT season are "Arsenic and Old Lace," "The Boyfriend," "Oliver," "Dames at Sea," and the Mormon musical "Saturday's "Satur-day's Warriors." High school seniors interested in drama are being invited to apply for an on-the-job apprenticeship ap-prenticeship program sponsored by the Red Cliff Repertory Theatre. Southern Utah State College began the Red Cliff Repertory Theatre program in Kanab three years ago to offer its students an additional dimension in theatre. The annually selected company presents light drama over a six-week six-week period on an intimate outdoor stage. The apprenticeship program was established last year to help train future theatre students, and "hopefully, to help create new jobs for students in the southern Utah area," Terral S. Lewis, producing director of the RCRT, said. Apprentices have opportunities op-portunities to perform roles, learn scenery construction, and participate in stage lighting, costuming and makeup, among other assignments. "Anyone interested in the program for this summer can write to me in care of the SUSC Theatre Department, Cedar City, Utah 84720, for further information," Lewis said. "Requests should be in before March 1." Apprentices will arrive for assignment in mid-June and will work until the end of August. Financial support for the program comes from southern Utah community businesses which send students from their areas to participate with the Volunteers in the March of Dimes College Action Program (CAP) sponsor health education programs about medical advances ad-vances in the prevention and treatment of birth defects. |
