Show School board considers varied agenda at January meeting Four teachers were approved for hiring in the Iron County School District at the meeting Monday of the Board of Education. Included were: -L. C. Seeley, Jr . to teach crafts and industrial arts at Cedar Junior High School. It was pointed out that he will be an added staff member to reduce heavy loads. Available money for the position was acquired through Title VI funds provided through the federal government -Vicki Ingram was hired on a half time basis to teach girls' physical education and coach girls' sports at Cedar High School. -LaDawn Allen was hired to fill a similar need at Parowan High School. -Richard Webster will join the Junior High School faculty. He w ill replace Suzanne Morris, w ho had been filling a vacancy on a temporary basis. The board also determined that members would attend a legislative dinner and presentation presen-tation to be held at the Prudential Plaza in Salt Lake City this evening. Also three members of the board will attend. January 29 , 30 and 31. a negotiations workshop in Salt Lake City. Both events are sponsored by the Utah School Boards Association. In other action the board approved ap-proved an increase in coal price to $22.85 per ton The price increase, in-crease, from $19.85 per ton. represents an increase in the price of coal at the mine. The escalation increase w as built into the contract with Evans Brothers of Parowan. It was noted however, that the increase represents 4ii percent above the original price contracted at the beginning of the school ear. Bids were opened at the meeting for the conducting of the annual fiscal and attendance audit for the 1974-75 school year. Owing to the method of bidding the bids were rejected and a second call will be made on the basis of identical services to be performed. Authorization was given by the tard to make application for P. L. 874 funds, established by the federal government for impacted areas. Three members of the board were sworn into office for four ear terms. Glen Halterman, Oscar Hulet and Klien Rollo, all took the oath of office and officially of-ficially began their four year tenures on the board. For Halterman it is his fourth elective term of office: for Hulet is his third It is the first elective term for Rollo |
