Show David Leibhardt returns from European tour with Concert group j yf i n r David Liebhardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Liebhardt of Cedar City has just returned from an extensive tour of Europe as a member of the "America's Youth in Concert," program. The final performance of the select group of youth was performed per-formed Monday in New York City's historic Town Hall as a fitting climax to a month long visit to Rome, Florence, Venice, Salzburg, Paris, Brussels and London where concerts were performed. Members of "A m e r 1 c a s Youth In Concert," sponsored by the Universal Academy of Music at Princeton, N. J., are selected by audition from every state In the nation. In addition to the experience of performing perform-ing In concert band and choir under the direction of outstanding outstand-ing conductors, one of the purposes pur-poses was to demonstrate to the world the outstanding quality of America's music education ed-ucation programs. The students have not only had the opportunity to learn of new customs, and people, but also to demonstrate to Europeans the best In American Ameri-can Youth. Professor James Jorgenson of the University of Redlands, Calif, conducted the band while Dr. William Ramsey of the DAVID LIEBHARDT University of Utah conducted the choir. Prior to his European tour Liebhardt attended the International Inter-national Kiwanis Convention in Montreal, Canada with his parents. Following that he attended at-tended the Key Club International Interna-tional Convention in Chicago, 111. where he represented the Utah-Idaho District of that service ser-vice group. He holds the office of Lieutenant Governor of Division Di-vision 7 of the Utah-Idaho District. Dis-trict. From Chicago he flew to New York where he visited for five days in Long Island with Phil Dixon. Mr. Dixon is a recent convert to the LDS Church and was baptized by David's brother, bro-ther, Michael who Is currency serving a mission in Ontario. The Cedar City youth joined the touring group at the Kennedy Ken-nedy Airport where they boarded board-ed for the first stop in Rome, Italy. In addition to the extensive concert series presented in Europe the participants enjoyed en-joyed extensive tours in each of the concert sites. Liebhardt arrived home Wednesday Wed-nesday after being gone since June 15. |
