The Pageant, which is the first major activity ac-tivity of the Iron County Fair will be held on two evenings, at 8 p.m. at the Cedar High School Auditorium. On Friday, August 30 the talent competition competi-tion will be held for all contestants and each will also model pant outfits. Finals of the Pageant will be held Friday evening with each contestant appearing in swimsuit competition, evening gown competition, competi-tion, and the ten finalists will present their talent numbers. Finale will be the crowning of Miss Iron County and her two attendants to reign over the Fair and throughout the entire year. In addition a series of other events have been especially planned for the 28 contestants this year. On July 27 the contestants and their mothers were special guests of Mayor and Mrs. Loren Whetten and the Cedar City Jaycettes at a brunch at the Mayor's residence. Activities of the Pageant and instructions were discussed. Refreshments were served consisting of fresh fruit plate, homemade sweet rolls and hot punch. It is hoped that this brunch will become an annual tradition of the pageant. This evening, Thursday, an outdoor recreation recre-ation party for the contestants and their dates will be hosted by the Cedar City Jaycees and Jaycettes. Games and refreshments are planned. On Sautrday, August 18 a fashion show will be held to introduce Back-To-School fashions; and, the Miss Iron County Queen contestants. The event will be held at the SUSC Shakespear ean Festival Stage and is open to the public. Mothers and daughters are especially invited to attend. Elaine Bringhurst, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bringhurst. Sponsored by Sugar Loaf Cafe. Her talent number will be "Sonata II" by Handel. Katherine Cowan, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dee G. Cowan sponsored by Mullett Jewelry. Jew-elry. She will perform a cello solo. Laurene Dalley, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Dalley, Parowan, sponsored by Parowan Paro-wan Trading Center. She will perform a piano solo. Debbie DeMille, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale DeMille sponsored by Bud's Deserada. She will dance. LuAnn Judd, 19, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Harl Judd. She will be sponsored by New York Life. She will perform a violin solo. Ruth Kenney, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kenney sponsored by Del Rich Realty. She will perform a piano solo. Susan Leigh, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Leigh. She will be sponsored by the Plaza Merchants Association. She will play a flute solo. Joan Leonard, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Piatt sponsored by Hansen Pharmacy. Her talent number will be a dance. The remaining 21 contestants will similarly be introduced in the following two weeks of the "RECORD" leading up to the Miss Iron County Pageant and the opening of the 1973 Iron County Coun-ty Fair. |
