Show Merrell I). Jones to head Physical Science Department at College Dr. Merrell R. Jones has been appointed chairman of the Department De-partment of Physical Sciences at Southern Utah State College, it was announced by Dr Harl Judd, dean of the SUSC School of Sciences. The appointment is for three years. Dr. Jones will be responsible for departmental work in mathematics, math-ematics, chemistry, physics, geology, engineering, and computer com-puter sciences. He will also teach part time and continue as director of the computer , center. ; He is director of the SUSC observatory and attendant in the SUSC seismologlcal station. 'Dr. Jones received his Bachelor's Bache-lor's Degree and his PhD from the University of Utah. He taught physics at the U of U prior to coming to SUSC in 1966. In 1963 he worked under a Ful-bright Ful-bright Grant in Brazil. He has DR. M. R. JONES also attended various computer programming courses. He graduated from the U of U with high honors, and was elected to membership In Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Pi Sigma, and Phi Eta Sigma. His wife is the former Carol Ann Parry. Both are natives of Cedar City. They are the parents par-ents of five children. Dr. Jones is the son of Mrs. Lael Jones, retired SUSC catalog cata-log librarian, and the late Dan Jones. |
