Show Parovan plans Bond Election to i m p ro ve Wa te r Syste m,CityPark Rose Page, Chairwoman of the city Steering Committee, Com-mittee, met with the council to submit a proposal for a clean up campaign sometime in August. The city equipment would be available on days set up for that purpose. A date has not been decided on as yet. Jim Hammell has been acting as building inspector for the past few weeks, and has now been officially appointed to that position. Carlyle Johnson met with .the council to present his new sub-division plan for council approval. The council recommended that the Planning and Zoning Committee approve the plan before the council takes action on it. City manager, Woodrow Decker, is in a Salt Lake hospital with an undetermined un-determined illness and will not be available for some time. Mayor Gurr recommended recom-mended that Mrs. Jackie Robinson be named as the city representative to the Utah Symphony. Mayor Gurr stated that there is a definite possibility that the Symphony will come to Parowan each year. The manager of the Symphony indicates that the orgain-zation orgain-zation really enjoyed the facilities and audience response they received here. Two bond elections are being discussed : one for pool and park improvements and one to improve the water system. Being discussed for the water system are the possibilities of a new stand by well or another pipeline up the canyon. However, a new pipeline would have to wait until some water rights problems are resolved. Howard Ward attended the council meeting to discuss the sale of his property south of the Lions Pavillion to the city. An agreement is now being drafted. Mayor Gurr read a letter from the Iron County School District requesting the closure of the city street where the proposed little league park will be located: first west between first and third north and second north between first west and the Roy Benson, Sr., property line. The council agreed to have city attorney Isom draft any necessary ordinance. |
