Show Helen Leavitt has a theory about running a successful Box Office for the Festival. Organization, according to Helen, is the answer. "Have the tickets available by January, have good advance publicity, and keep up to date with mail order sales," she says, "and when the season opens there is less chance for mix-ups and confusion." Helen is developing her Box Office theories rapidly. Although a comparative newcomer to the Festival--this is her second season-she is well aware of the problems involved in-volved in scheduling seating, and last year she guided the Box Office through a record-breaking record-breaking season, in which most nights were sold out completely. Ticket sales for the 1977 season started at a brisk clip in January, when Mrs. Leavitt opened the Box Office for mail order sales. When the Box Office opened, 42,000 tickets were on the board, and sales all during the spring have been well ahead of corresponding times last year. Helen has been working almost daily since January, selling more tickets by mail than ever before, and selling tickets earlier in the year than previously. Since June 6 the Box Office has been open daily for ticket purchases, and although many nights are completely sold out as the season opens, the Box Office will try to adhere to the Festival's long-standing policy of seating everyone as far as possible. Few people wishing to see a play have ever been turned away, Mrs. LeaVitt comments. Mrs. Leavitt has lived in Cedar City many years. She and her husband Dudley are the parents of nine children. Helen enjoys her Box Office work very much; she supervises two assistants, and all three people are committed to improving Box Office services and meeting the seating needs of Festival friends. - J' - ,. -yW 'J I- " I I ! pi ; h l r.tJi-PJ; r SiNJt |
